About The Greenhouse
In the spring of 2000, Kim Thistle and Sean Dolter opened "The Greenhouse and Garden Store" in beautiful Little Rapids, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Kim, having grown up in the business, has not strayed far from her roots. She worked with her parents, Don and Sylvia, for a number of years before deciding to go back to school and study horticulture. Upon graduation from Nova Scotia Agricultural College she returned to the family business. Once she met Sean, the two decided to go out on their own and moved the business to the present property in Little Rapids. Both parents still help out but it is now, thankfully, their hobby.
Sean had a career in forest management outside of the Garden Centre until 2014 when they decided to make it a full-time family business. Sean still remains active as a consultant to the forest, agriculture and environment sectors but works full-time as a landscape designer, landscape contractor and co-manages the garden centre with his wife, Kim.
The Greenhouse employs up to twelve people during peak season. We all work very hard at creating harmony between nature and the products we sell. Protecting the environment is near and dear to our souls.
